While many were vacationing with friends and family this past summer, our Pacific Grove Lacrosse players and coaches were finding time to improve their own skills, and help younger players to develop theirs.

The Pacific Grove High School Summer workout program brought 15 of our most skilled players together for a week of work outs and team building exercises that left many wanting more. Under the direction of Coach Schuyler Horn and Assistant Coach Joey Murray, our players learned the importance of teamwork, ground ball handling and physical conditioning as the key components to success on the playing field. The week wrapped up with an invitation to Head Coach Chris Morgan’s football players to join our Lacrosse players on the field for a day of competitive fun. Five of our football players were picking up a Lacrosse stick for the first time yet the scheduled one hour drill lasted more than three hours because all players wanted more. Lunch was provided by our generous pglacrosse.org sponsors.

The WAVE Program held at PGHS provided another opportunity to introduce lacrosse sticks into the hands of a significant number of 5th, 6th and 7th graders. Under the direction of Executive Director Darryl Smith and his staff, Coach Horn and assistant Coach Josue Sanchez introduced the exciting 800 year old sport of lacrosse to the group of young athletes and artists, many whom had never even heard of the sport.
The WAVE Program is a three week program for 5th, 6th and 7th graders that emphasizes sports, the arts and dance. It is designed specifically to target the Pacific Grove community with the goal of promoting school and community pride through athletics and the arts. The program includes lacrosse, basketball, baseball/softball, flag football, volleyball, soccer, tennis, track and field, badminton, art, dance, music, swimming, and health/nutrition.
